Open Memo to Netflix

To whom it may concern at Netflix,

First, I LOVE your service. You have absolutely revolutionized the way I watch and keep track of movies.

One suggestion: Fix your "Queue" feature so that it can hold more than 500 titles at a time. Currently, I have a queue, and so do my girlfriend and two of our cats. The cats let me keep some of my movies on their queues. It would be much easier to manage the total number of titles that I want to keep track of if I could have them all on one list.

What's the magic about the number 500?

Many thanks.

Dear Kane Citizen,

When we created our service, we had no idea how many movie geeks we were letting ourselves in for. We figured 500 was a nice, round, LARGE number. As evidenced by your cat Fluffy’s request for Reservoir Dogs, we knew something was up. Apparently people sure like to browse and click. They seem to think they will get around to watching 500 movies. In reality, most never return the three they have. We just keep billing those losers every month and will soon turn a profit on them. You, however, are another story. Rather than give your account another user, why not just use up some of the blank spaces on some of our more moderate watchers? We’ll just replace their address with yours. They’ll never notice. Or return The Sound of Music.

Love, NetFlix

But do they have a cool widget for your blog like Shelfari? Wouldn't you love to have a feed showing the last few movies you viewed with a personal review and some space devoted to Coming Attractions?
